Network Rail Partnership Awards 2010

BCM Construction was highly commended at the Network Rail Partnership awards dinner in Birmingham on Thursday 15th July 2010 for the re-location of Barnham Signal Box.

Working in partnership with Network Rail, Save the Barnham Signal Box Campaign Group and our Supply Chain Partners, BCM Construction successfully moved the 100 year old timber framed Signal Box at Barnham for the benefit of the local community and railway enthusiasts.

Following months of careful planning, the complex move involved lifting the structure in one piece over the railway lines onto a low loader and transporting it to Aldingbourne Community playing fields to become the home of Bognor Regis Model Railway Society.

Signalling Projects News

BCM are delighted to announce the successful relocation of a redundant Edwardian Signal Box at Barnham. The campaign group 'Save Barnham Signal Box' have been working hard to save the Signal Box from demolition and received the fruits of their labour on Sunday December 6th. The Old Signal Box was lifted from it home of over 100 years (Barnham Station Platform 2) to make the 1.8mile trip to Aldingbourne Playing Fields, where it will become the new home of Bognor Regis Model Railway Club.

BCM were contacted by Network Rail following the construction of a new replacement Signal Box in 2008, with an enquiry to relocate the redundant signal box. This somewhat unusual project went off very successfully on Sunday despite the best efforts of the December weather to scupper the plans. The Signal Box was lifted in one piece by a 150 Tonne crane and transported to its new home on a low loader after 3 months of preparation. Congratulations go out to David Baker, the responsible BCM Project Manager for a job very well done.
