We have been extensively involved in the Southern Region and West Coast Mainline Power Supply Upgrade Projects and Network Rail’s Southern region programme of AC switchgear installations and power supply enhancements.
During the Southern Region PSU we were the main civils contractor for the joint venture team delivering the Power Supply Upgrade works in the Wessex Area. During the period 2003 – 2006 we constructed 26 substations and TP hut upgrade sites.
For the West Coast Mainline PSU we were contracted to deliver 6 sites for the joint venture team in the Midlands & North West after success on Southern Region PSU.
Most recently in 2011 BCM have been constructing new substation sites on the East Grinstead line for Power Supply Enhancement works.
We have carried out the following works:
- New Substation compound including RC foundations fencing and access route.
- Under track crossing works.
- Retaining wall construction works.
- Groundworks such as vibro concrete piled foundations and CFA piling.
- Access solutions for difficult-to-access sites.
- Demolition of Track Paralleling Huts (TPH).
- Installation of new cable containment routes.
- Cable pulling and recovery of redundant cables.
