BCM are delighted to have secured our first contract in the Nuclear sector at Hinkley Point C. Shane O’Halloran, Managing Director of BCM, said “we are seeking to diversify our services and offer our transferable skill-sets to alternative markets, Hinkley Point is a fantastic example of this strategy in action”. Our client at Hinkley Point have been attracted by our combined service offering of both civils and power capabilities. This contract gives a boost to our teams delivering projects in the West of England and we are thrilled with this development.
Hinkley Point C is on the north Somerset coast in the south west of England and will sit alongside an operating nuclear power station, and one being decommissioned.
Marking a significant milestone in the revitalisation of the UK nuclear power industry, Hinkley Point C will make a major contribution to the UK’s move to reduce carbon emissions. The electricity it generates will avoid 9 million tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions a year, or 600 million tonnes over its 60-year lifespan.
But it’s more than a nuclear power station – Hinkley Point C will produce many other economic and social benefits too.
