BCM was established in 1985 when Hubert McGarry teamed up with Willie Byrne and Paul Cheverall. These three family names make up the B, C, and M of BCM. The team had a history of road construction and initially targeted the highways infrastructure market.

Terry Sullivan, now Finance Director, joined the business.
BCM was granted a Contractors Assurance Case enabling the company to deliver Rail projects for British Rail.
BCM secured a Minor Buildings and Civils Framework Contract with British Rail which ran for 15 years.
BCM Building was established to focus on the house building market.
Shane O’Halloran, now Managing Director, joined BCM as Engineering Manager.
BCM secured a significant contract with Thameslink Programme which became a springboard for the company, forcing us to build capabilities and develop our service offering.
BCM secured a signalling infrastructure framework contract with Thameslink Programme.
BCM Resourcing was established which has now been rebranded to CrewIT Resourcing.
BCM secured a Control Period 5 Electrification and Plant framework contract with Network Rail – Infrastructure Projects Southern.
Stuart Jackson, now Commercial Director, joined BCM as Head of Commercial. Equate Design was established.
Construction Hire Solutions, and Lucas Innovations were established.
BCM secured 3 No. framework contracts with London Underground-s SWIP Aspire Team.
CrewIT absorbed an Irish recruiter Canduco to form CrewIT Resourcing – Ireland. CrewIT also absorbed Flexible Driver Hire to form CrewIT Technical.
